Shipment Tracker & IMS — application interface

What is Shipment Tracker & IMS?

A telecom supply-chain and logistics platform that replaces manual engineering-order (EO) tracking with unattended IMAP email ingestion and a live operational dashboard. It automatically polls, classifies, and parses vendor EO and shipment emails into structured line items—enforcing a guarded nine-state lifecycle from notice receipt and warehouse verification through field installation and equipment transfers.

What I built

  • Unattended IMAP Ingestion & Dual Layout Parsers. Built FetchVerizonEmailsJob (cache-locked 1-minute polling, message_id deduplication, raw .eml archival) and two resilient parsers — VerizonEmailParser (MIME boundary decoding, 30+ header and 15+ line-item column aliases) and WordHtmlParser (encoding normalization and junk-row filtering).
  • Guarded Lifecycle State Machine & Conflict Resolution. Designed a rank-ordered shipment lifecycle (Notice Received → In Transit → Received by GC → Missing Parts / At Warehouse → Installed / Transferred / Inside Company Van) enforced by ShipmentObserver and Form Requests, with locked_for_automation guards so background IMAP syncs never clobber manual user overrides.
  • Out-of-Sequence Orphan, Split & Ledger Reconciliation. Handled real-world telecom logistics edge cases in EmailAutomationService — creating flagged orphan stubs when shipment notices arrive before Engineering Orders (EOs), splitting records on new tracking numbers, and tracking 10 per-line quantity buckets (requested, shipped, received, installed, missing, transferred).
  • Session-Safe SSE Real-Time Notifications & Media Gallery. Built a Server-Sent Events (EventSource) notification stream in AdminNotificationController that explicitly releases PHP session locks before streaming (preventing FPM worker deadlocks), paired with a cursor-paginated proof-media gallery and encrypted runtime IMAP configuration.

System scope

  • IMAP Automated IngestionDirect mailbox connector fetching and extracting structured parts data from supplier emails.
  • State-Machine Lifecycle7-stage finite state workflow tracking equipment from transit to installation and van transfers.
  • Item-Level Inventory LedgerGranular parts tracking monitoring quantities, serials, missing items, and technician usage.
  • Asynchronous Queue PipelinesBackground workers handling heavy parsing and extraction without UI latency.
  • SSO & Governance AuditingExternal Single Sign-On integration with full mutation history and anomaly alerts.
  • Proof Media Gallery & Cursor PaginationCursor-paginated proof-media gallery attached to shipment events, with FIFO thumbnail delivery and encrypted runtime IMAP configuration.

Inside the product

A shipment resolves to an EO number with its routing legs, terms and the product it carries. Received quantity sits beside expected quantity and is correctable, and the correction is recorded rather than the row rewritten.
The accessory drawer holds the full record - shipment type, shipment and delivery numbers, delivery location, installation date - above a line-item table of expected against received quantity.
Evidence attaches to the shipment itself: media, images, documents and voice clips drop into the same drawer, so a disputed delivery has its paperwork sitting next to it.
